Reading Diaries: The Body I Call Home
There is a clear conducting thread among the texts, where my biggest take is how through different topics, whether healing a loss, sexual education or social justice, art comes into play as something else than just what we do. It’s what we are. A little bit off-topic, but it reminded me quite a bit Carlos Castañeda’s Don Juan and the way his shaman instructs him into the wonders of mysticism. Regardless if the stories were true or not, there is a magical world out there and we know not only because of facts but because of a trascendental reason that conforms us. The same reason than five centuries ago artists were sponsored by the Church or that today are being prosecuted for their works. Art is something else than pretty or interesting and as artists we should be aware of this way of seeing the world, because there is only one way of seeing it.
